sr By letter dated December 21, 1978, you submitted proposed radiological effluent Technical Specifications for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Units Nos. 1 and 2.

In the submittal you indicated that the require-ments for solidification and proposed Technical Specifications for solid radioactive waste is not directly applicable to current operational practices at Hatch.

Your submittal further indicated that such information would be submitted at some later time.

In order to avoid delay in the issuance of new effluent and environmental Technical Specifications, we request that you provide the information described in the enclosure within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION GEORGIA POWER COMPANY EDWIN I. HATCH UNITS NOS.1 AND 2 1.

Define the limitations of the presently installed solid radioactive waste system; provide a Process Control Program description and propose Technical Specifications for the solid waste that can be processed employing the existing system.

2.

Identify that waste which cannot be solidified using the existing system and describe the current method of packaging of such waste.

3.

If you employ an offsite contraction for solidification of " wet" waste, in lieu of operating the installed system, provide a Process Control Program for the operations performed by this contractor.

4.

Provide your schedule for upgrading your solid waste system to be in conformance with BTP ETSB 11-3 as indicated in the FSAR for Hatch Unit No. 2 and the staff's SER (NUREG-0411, June 1978).
