HEETING

SUMMARY

On August 15, 1978 members of the staff met with representatives of Georgia Power Company (licensee) at Bethesda, Maryland to discuss the licensee's plans to submit a license amendment application to implement Appendix I Technical Specifications for Hatch Nuclear Plant Unit Nos.1 and 2.

Highlights of the meeting follow:

1.

In response to specific questions by the licensee, the staff provided background information on the intent of certain specifications. This additional information will permit the licensee to assess the applicability of certain of the draft specifications to any unique features of the Hatch design.

2.

Hatch is one of the two lead plants for Appendix I implementation.

Since staff guidance set forth in NUREG 0133 is not yet available to the licensee, it was agreed between the staff and licensee that a formal, complete application for amendment submittal by September 15, 1978 does not seem feasible. Therefore a revised schedule of milestones was discussed.

...:ensee indicated that he would consider the feasibility of partial submittals and advise the staff accordingly.

Subsequent to the meeting, discussions between the NRC ORPM and licensee's representatives resulted in the attached revised schedule.

The licensee will provide the staff review group with a working draft of his proposed Technical Specifications. This submittal might not be complete in view of the delay in distributing NUREG 0133.

October 15 -

The staff will meet with the licensee to discuss any alternative proposals and to identify those.

areas where the licensee must provide additional information or justification.

November 15 -

The licensee will submit a formal application for
