  1. SACRAMENTO MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT C 6201 s street, Box 15830, sacramento, Califorr.ia 95813; (916) 452 3211 October 15, 1979 Mr. Robert W. Reid Chief Operating Reactor, Branch 4 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Reid:

Your July 23, 1979, letter to the District requested additional information on our June 3,1977, and September 17, 1976, submittals con-cerning the susceptibility of the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generation Station to degraded voltage conditions.

Due to the NRC's letter from William Gammill to Power Reactor Licensees dated August 8,1979, fire protection modifications, TMI-2 related modifications and changes in the 230KV transmission system, the District is redesigning Rancho Seco's safety grade onsite distribution system and the protection system for degraded voltage conditions.

Therefore, the responses in our June 3,1977, and September 17, 1976, submittals are no longer valid.

When the District's new design is complete, additional information will be supplied to the NRC for review, approval and verification that the design meets the current NRC standards.

Sincerely, y {; ]% s M ohn J. Mattimoe Assistant General Manager and Chief Engineer 3 lbb i
