[External_Sender] Kemps Ridley Sea Turtles at PSL Date: Monday, April 15, 2019 2:25:44 PM Hi Audra and Meghan, The NMFSs biological opinion allows for the capture of 8 Kemps ridley sea turtles annually. So far in 2019, FPL captured ten Kemps ridley individuals in the St. Lucie intake canal with the ninth captured on April 14th and the tenth being captured on April 15th. All individuals were alive and healthy, and FPL staff biologists released the turtles back to the Atlantic Ocean in accordance with the terms and conditions of the biological opinion. FPL St. Lucie Plant will provide additional details in Aprils monthly report of sea turtle captures.

The capture of ten Kemps ridley turtles so far in 2019 represents the second consecutive year with elevated numbers of live and healthy Kemps ridley sea turtles observed in the St. Lucie intake canal.
