Audra, Thanks for the reply! So, just to confirm in writingAs with the 2019 capture, NMFSs view is that the NRC does not need to reinitiate consultation for the Jan 3 olive ridley capture because such captures are extremely rare and captured individuals are considered lost to the population.

[External_Sender] Re: Re: PSL Olive Ridley Capture 1/3/23 Hi Briana,

Thanks for following up. I checked with our Sea Turtles Branch Chief concerning the recent olive ridley capture. We believe these instances are extremely rare, and that these individuals (the recent capture and the previous olive ridley capture in 2019) are essentially lost to the population.

Kind regards, Audra On Wed, Jan 18, 2023 at 10:47 AM Briana Arlene <briana.arlene@nrc.gov> wrote:

Hi Audra,

Following up with a voicemail I just left, the St. Lucie Plant captured an olive ridley on 1/3/23. The turtle was in good condition and was released, with a satellite tag. Attached are the capture sheets and photos with additional information. Please let me know if you have any questions.
