  1. 04_20230105.pdf; Photo Jan 05 2023, 16 22 34.jpg Hi Audra, Yesterday, 1/5/23, the St. Lucie Plant captured a healthy, female smalltooth sawfish. The sawfish was successfully captured, tagged, and released. Additional information is below and attached, per the Biological Opinion (BO). This is the first smalltooth sawfish capture since the BO was issued in August.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Time and location of first sighting: 13:15 in the north tangle net in the intake canal.

Data collected (by Harbor Branch): measurements, fin clips, blood, PIT and acoustic tag inserted.

Handling time: First observed at 13:15, released at 16:33 at the beach near intake canal (most of this time was preparation and waiting for Harbor Branch researchers to arrive, not actual "handling" of the animal).

Any observed injury/behavior: No observed injuries or erratic behavior.

Condition of the animal at time of release: Condition was very good at the time of release.

Photographs of the animal: Attached
