EVENT DESCRIPTION (con't) service. The channel was successfully tested and returned to service. During normal operation on August 23, 1975, Channel II !:.T/T protection drifted again in the nonconservative direction. The unit was ramp~dgdown until the channel was placed in the trip mode. P..n incorrect resistance of the installed spare hot leg RTD in use at the ti.De caused the instrument drift. (AO-Sl-75-16)
~AUSE DESCRIPTION .{can't) leak on valve l-RC-55 causing incorrect ohmic characteristics. The 2 inch valve was manufactured by Rockwell-Edwards Manufacturing Company. The packing was replaced and the RTD ohmic characteristics ret;.irned to normal after the RTTI dried.
Since. the drift was caused by woisture on the r.orillal RTD rather than a failure.
as originally assumed, the r:onial RTD was reconnected and the channel succe:ss:fully tested and returned to ser~ice.
