SUBJECT:

SURRY POWER STATION - NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR NRC PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND RESOLUTION INSPECTION

Dear Eric Carr:

The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Region II staff will conduct a problem identification and resolution (PI&R) inspection at your Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2, during the weeks of August 12-16 and August 26-30, 2024. The inspection team will be led by Mr. Jamin Seat, Senior Project Engineer, from the NRCs Region II office. This inspection will be conducted in accordance with baseline inspection procedure 71152, Problem Identification and Resolution, issued October 31, 2023.

The biennial PI&R inspection and assessment of the licensees Corrective Action Program (CAP) complements and expands upon the resident baseline inspections of routine daily screening of all CAP issues, quarterly focused issue reviews, and semiannual trend PI&R reviews.

On June 24, 2024, Mr. Jamin Seat confirmed, with Mr. Michael True, of your staff, arrangements for the two-week inspection.

The enclosure lists documents that will be needed prior to the inspection. Please have the referenced information available no later than August 2, 2024. Contact Mr. Seat with any questions concerning the requested information. The inspectors will try to minimize your administrative burden by specifically identifying only those documents required for inspection preparation.

July 1, 2024

Enclosure If additional documents are needed, they will be requested when identified. Prior to the inspection, Mr. Seat will discuss with your staff, the following inspection support administrative details: availability of knowledgeable plant engineering and licensing personnel to serve as points of contact during the inspection; method of tracking inspector requests during the inspection; and if necessary: access to licensee computers; working space; arrangements for site access; and other applicable information.

This letter, its enclosure, and your response (if any) will be made available for public inspection and copying at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions regarding the information requested or the inspection, please contact Mr. Seat at (404) 997-4475.

Sincerely, Matthew S. Fannon, Chief Reactor Projects Branch 4 Division of Reactor Projects Docket Nos. 05000280 and 05000281 License Nos. DPR-32 and DPR-37
