Subject; Abnormal Occurrence 75-02 - Failure of the 1C Safety Injection Pump to Start Manually from Bus 16 Ginna Station Docket $/50-244

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

This is to confirm my phone call to Mr. John Hannon this morning to report Abnormal Occurrence 75-02 at Ginna Station.

While conducting Periodic Test (PT-2.1), and following the satisfactory test of the 1-A and 1-B Safety Injection Pumps, the 1-C Safety Injection Pump which can be operated from either Bus 14 or Bus 16, failed to start manually on Bus 16 the first time it was tried. The l-C pump was started from Bus 14 and the pump test completed. The pump was tried from Bus 16 twice since the malfunction and operated successfully.

The PORC met and recommended a thorough inspection of the breaker by the Electricians. Any further action that is necessary will be carried out after the Electricians report back to PORC.
