MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT - NOTIFICATION OF NRC SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INSPECTION AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Dear Mr. Gardner:
In your letter of June 8, 2015, (Serial Numbers: L-MT-15-044 & EA-14-165) with the subject of Readiness for NRC Supplemental Inspection for a Security Greater-Than-Green Finding, you informed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant was ready for the NRC to perform a supplemental inspection.
On July 13, 2015, the NRC will begin the supplemental inspection. The on-site inspection is scheduled to be performed July 20 through 24, 2015. The purpose of this inspection is to provide assurance that the root causes and contributing causes of the performance issue associated with the Greater-than-Green security violation are understood, the extent of condition and extent of cause of the failures are identified, and your corrective actions are sufficient to address the root and contributing causes to prevent recurrence.
To minimize the impact to your on-site resources and to ensure a productive inspection, we have enclosed a request for documents needed for this inspection. It is important that all of these documents are up-to-date and complete, thereby minimizing the number of additional documents requested during the preparation and/or the on-site portions of the inspection.
We have discussed the schedule for these inspection activities with your staff and understand that our regulatory contact for this inspection will be Mr. Kevin Nyberg of your organization.
