Letter No. 2016-114 from EPRI to NRC "BWRVIP-298NP: BWR Vessel and Internals Project, Testing and Evaluation of the Hope Creek 120° Capsule,"

dated October 31, 2016 On October 31, 2016, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), on behalf of the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP), submitted "BWRVIP-298NP: BWR Vessel and Internals Project, Testing and Evaluation of the Hope Creek 120° Capsule," as required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix H, Section IV.A.

PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) has reviewed the test results provided in BWRVIP-298NP and determined that changes to the Pressure-Temperature (P-T) Limit Curves (Figures 3.4.6.1-1, 3.4.6.1-2 and 3.4.6.1-3) contained in the Hope Creek Generating Station (Hope Creek)

Technical Specifications (TS) are required. PSEG will submit a license amendment request to revise the Hope Creek P-T limit curves by March 31, 2017.

The Hope Creek TS P-T curves are valid for 32 effective full power years (EFPY), and Hope Creek is currently at approximately 25.5 EFPY. However, preliminary analysis of the results of

pressure-temperature operating limits.

PSEG implemented a 28°F adjustment to the P-T limit curves to ensure that the fracture toughness requirements for the reactor coolant pressure boundary contained in 10 CFR 50 Appendix G are maintained through administrative controls until the license amendment request is submitted and approved.

There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter.
