Combustion Engineering, Inc. (C-E) hereby submits for your review seventy (70) copies of Amendment No. 5 (non-proprietary) to CESSAR-F. This amendment in-cludes a variety of changes which are listed and explained in the attached table. A draft copy of this amendment was previously transmitted by the above reference.

Additional amendments are being prepared for submittal which will incorporate the balance of CESSAR-F changes provided in the reference letter.

1) Table of Contents and Listing of Amendments This table and listing have been provided for the user's convenience.
2) Hydraulic Parameters (Chapters 1&4)

The tests of the reactor vessel scale flow model necessitated minor changes to core flow parameters. The test results were provided in Appendix 4B in Amendment No. 1.

3) Potential Missile List (Chapter 3)

The shutdown cooling valve stem has been deleted from the list of potential missiles.

4) Containment Spray System FMEA Table (Appendix 6A)

The Failure Modes and Effects Analysis table has been revised to reflect minor revisions regarding failure mode mechanisms.

5) Iodine Removal FMEA Table (Appendix 6B) t The Failure Modes and Effects Analysis table has been revisad to reflect minor revisions regarding failure mode mechanisms.
6) Sheared Shaft Protection (Chapter 7) l The System 80 design has been modified to include reactor trip on steam generator primary flow rate (based upon pressure differential) to provide protection against a sheared reactor coolant pump shaf t.
7) Plant Protection System FMEA Table (Chapter 7) t The Failure Modes and Effects Analysis table was revised to reflect operation of the Plant Protection System with one channel in bypass.
8) Secondary Chemistry Control Procedures (Chapter 10)

This revision was made in response to NRC question no. 282.1 as i

transmitted by Reference (A).

9) Appendix A Supplement This supplement was prepared in response to Reference (B), to address I

later revisions of regulatory guides not addressed in the original Appendix A of CESSAR-F.
