Dear Sir/Madam:

In accordance with Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06, "Importance of Giving NRC Advance Notice of Intent to Pursue License Renewal," dated June 15, 2009, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) hereby informs the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that FPL intends to submit an application for the subsequent renewal of the Operating Licenses for Turkey Point Nuclear Generating (Turkey Point) Units 3 and 4.

The initial renewal of the Operating Licenses for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 were issued on June 6, 2002, and will expire at midnight on July 19, 2032, and April 10, 2033, respectively. FPL intends to submit an application for the subsequent renewal of the Operating Licenses for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 in accordance with 10 CFR Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," by the end of 2017.

This notice of FPL's intention is being submitted voluntarily to allow the NRC to plan more accurately and to budget agency resources accordingly. However, the fact that FPL plans to submit the license renewal application, as well as the projected schedule of its submission, are both considered to be proprietary by FPL. Accordingly, FPL respectfully requests that this information be withheld from public disclosure and that any future NRC publicly-disclosed information identify the respective application as an "Unnamed Plant," and not mention that they are owned by FPL. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(b), FPL has attached an affidavit providing the basis for withholding the information from public disclosure.
