Conlon, Section Chief Date Signed Engineering Inspection Branch Division of Engineering and Technical Programs SUMMARY Inspection on July 13-16, 1982 Areas Inspected This routine, unannounced inspection involved 22 inspector-hours on site in the areas of instrumentation, components and systems work, work activities and quality records, licensee actions on previous inspection findings, and licensee identified items.
Results
l Of the three areas inspected, no violations or deviations were identified in two areas; one violation was found in one area (Violation of Cable Minimum Bend Radius paragraph 3).

Licensee Action on Previous Inspection Findings

(Closed) Unresolved Iten 438,439/32-17-01, Discrepancies between cable bend radii and vertical cable tray fittings.
This item has been evaluated and found to be a violation. All the vertical cable tray 90 fittings have a bend radius of 12 irches. TVA has installed large diameter electrical cable which has a minimum bend radius greater than 12 inches in these cable trays which violates the cable manufacturers recommendations and TVA's general specifications. This is identified as Violation 438,439/82-22-01, Violation of cable minimum bend radius.

5.
Independent Inspection Effort (92706B)
The inspector examined the cable installation in the Unit 1 HVAC chiller rooms. The inspector examined fire extinguishers in several areas. All were found in good order.
Within the area examined, no violations or deviations were identified.
6.
Instrumentation (Cc.nponents and Systems 1) - Observation of Work, Work Activities, and Quality Records Review (52053 and 52055)
The inspector selected the following instruments for examination to assure that the SAR and QAM requirements were complied with in the areas of receiving inspection, vendor certification, storage, handling, cleanliness records, installaticn of required component, anchoring, bracing, separation, j
isolation, protection independance, testing and QC inspection records. The instruments selected were as follows:
1SM-IPT-904G, 1-SM-IPT-905F, 1KE-IFT-936-A,1KE-IFT-910-B,1NX-ILT-0018-6 and INX-ILT-001C-f.
Within the areas examined there were no violations or deviations identified.
7.
Licensee Identified Items (Closed) Item 438/CDR81-26 and 439/CDR81-28 " Automatic Loading of Control Building Water Chillers" (10 CFR 50.55(e)). Tne final report was submitted on April 23, 1981.
The report has been reviewed and determined to be acceptable.
The inspector held discussions with responsible licensee representatives and reviewed supporting documentation to verify that the corrective action identified in the report had been completed. The licensee has added contacts which load the chillers on the emergency bus per ECN 1230. This item was also tracked by 438,439/81-15-09 which is now closed.
