(Closed)OpenItem(346/85035-01): TED committed to conduct confirmatory tests on the AFPTSS piping system following the completion of modifications to the system. The NRC inspector reviewed the following TED test and inspection procedures, and had no adverse comments:

TP 850.99, "AFW-MS Supply Line Vibration Test, FCR 85-143 and FCR 85-163," March 22, 198 IP-M-006, " Thermal Expansion and Dynamic Testing of Main Steam Supply to the Auxiliary Feedwater Pump Turbines," Revision 2,

December 8,1986.

i The tests for Train No.1-2 turbine start and trip were conducted on December 8,1986, with the steam temperature measured at 530'F. The NRC inspector reviewed the instrument readings obtained from the six displacement transducers, and observed no movements due to system dynamic transients. This could be attributed to an upgrading of the AFPTSS operational procedures and the slow pneumatic valve opening time of 24 seconds. The NRC inspector perfonned walkdown inspection of the AFPTSS piping system including the crossover legs, and observed no hardware deformation or degradation. In a review of the TED hanger inspection records, one snubber showed a slight movement in a direction opposite to that predicted by design calculations, one spring hanger was seeing an operating load slightly in excess of the predicted design load, and one rigid restraint bracket was modified to allow for additional piping thermal movement. The above discrepancies were evaluated or i corrected by TED during the test <
