Fuel Facility Projects and Radiation Support Section Inspection Summary Initial Management Meeting on January 11, 1979 (Report No. 50-341/79-01)
Areas Inspected: Routine, announced initial management meeting to discuss the preoperational and routine operational inspection program in the radiation protection and radwaste management areas. The inspection involved 13 inspector-hours on site by two NRC inspectors.
Results: Of the six areas inspected, no noncompliance or deviations were found.

2.
Initial Management Meeting This initial management meeting, which began at 8:00 a.m. on January 11, 1979 was conducted to discuss with the licensee the following matters:
a.
The NRC function and inspection program with regard to radiation protection and radwaste management, including unannounced inspections, enforcement actions, and the conduct of management inte rviews.
b.
That the NRC inspection program does not supplant the need for an effective licensee audit and management controls program.
c.
The need for timely development of procedures and schedules as identified in the FSAR.
d.
The preoperational testing program for radwaste systems and monitors, including the inspector's function in reviewing the program.
e.
The radiation protection program and areas which will be reviewed by the inspectors before issue of an operating license, including qualifications of radiation protection personnel.
The inspectors expressed concern that not every radiation protection person currently on board appears to meet the qualification req irements specified by the FSAR.
f.
The inspectors discussed problems, noted at similar facilities, which may be applicable to the licensee's facility.
