Followup of Headquarters'oncerns a.

Containment Purging The inspector reviewed the licensee's actions in relation to the Headquarters'oncerns about containment purging and venting during

.normal operations (NRR ltr., Reid - Uhrig, dtd.,

10/23/79).

The

.'icensee appears to have satisfied all the interim guidelines in the above referenced letter.

The inspector had no further question b.

Charging Pump Vibration The inspector reviewed the licensee's action in relation to Headquarters'oncerns about vibratory loads on the Positive Displacement Charging Pumps (PDCP)

(NRR ltr., Reid - Uhrig, dtd.', 12/29/78).

The licensee has installed charging pump suction stabilizers per PCM 138-76 as part of the corrective action for this problem.

The licensee has also reworked the discharge piping of the PDCPs preparatory to the instal-lation of pulsation dampeners which are on order.

The licensee estimates that this work will be completed during the next refueling outage.

This item is designated for inspector followup (50-335/80-27-01).

Plant Operations The inspectors monitored plant operations in the control room at various times during the inspection.

The inspector witnessed a portion of the recovery from a dropped Control Element Assembly (CEA) on July 24, 1980.

In accordance with procedures, reactor power was decreased below 70$ and the rod was withdrawn.

Flux tilt calculations were performed and the analysis showed an acceptable flux so the unit was returned to full power.

No technical specification limits were exceeded during the event.

The cause of the dropped CEA was an error by a technician working in the CEA control panel.

The technician has been cautioned concerning work on such equipment.

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Plant Tour The inspectors toured various areas of the plant at irregular intervals throughout the inspection.

During one such tour a Radiation Area warning sign was found to have been removed from the door between the switchgear room and the AuxiliaryBuilding and placed behind some conduit on an adjacent wall.

The sign had been attached to the door with adhesive tape.

Licensee personnel were notified of this discrepancy and the sign was replaced on the door and fastened in a permanent manner.

The inspectors also toured areas of Unit 2 during site familiarization for the incoming resident..

IE Bulletin 79-15 The inspector reviewed the licensee's answer to IE Bulletin 79-15 and found no discrepancies.
