Management Meeting he 1 d *ta discuss the status and details of the PSE&G Action Plan for improvement of Nuclear Department operations, which was submitted to the NRC in August 1983. Areas discussed included an overview of the Action Plan status. Additionally, performance indicators of an upward trend and contemplated minor organizational changes were discussed.

Limroth, Project Engineer, Reactor Projects Section 2B, DRP Background This meeting is one of recurring meetings to discuss PSE&G 1 s corrective action program progres The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the status of the Action Plan developed by PSE&G in response to the MAC diagnostic evaluation submitted to the NRC on August 26, 198.

Discussion During this meeting, PSE&G made remarks relative to indications of an upward trend in operations, including:

Surpassing previous on-line record, with Unit 1 now in 107th day of continuous operation; Over 900,000 man-hours without a lost-time accident Low-level radwaste decreased to less than 10,000 cubic feet; Decrease in backlog of design change review; Unit 2 outage completed similar work package as that of Unit 1 with significant reduction in total Man-Rem;

With specific reference to the Action Plan items, 17 are closed, 9 remain open with 2 to be completed in *the near future. (see attachment)

The Vice President - Nuclear committed to make notifications to the State of New Jersey relative to reactor trips and other matters not rep6rtable under 10 CFR 50.72 and 50.7 Organizational changes and the rationale therefor, anticipated effective July 1, 1985, were discussed which included incorporation of system engineers into the station 1 s Operations Department. This change is intended to improve accountability. Other changes in nuclear review activities to improve management control of safety review functions were presented in general term Other initiatives included suspension of plant betterment items until design effort is better controlled; elimination of outside contractors; improve outage planning and control; continued plant appearance efforts; and improved incident investigation and critique proces At the next meeting PSE&G will present a revised schedule for closeout of the Action Plan. A target date for completion by November 1985 was stated as the goal of PSE& *
