October 25, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML113060207)

By letter dated October 15, 2013 (Reference 1), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) requested that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approve the proposed inservice inspection (lSI) alternatives 13-ISI-1 and 13-ISI-2.

Specifically, these proposed alternatives requested a one-time ten-year extension to selected ASME Examination Category B-A reactor vessel welds and selected ASME Examination Category B-D reactor vessel nozzle welds and reactor vessel inside radius sections for each unit.

Based on a May 5, 2014 discussion with Mr. Andrew Hon, the Sequoyah NRC Project Manager, TVA clarifies that the extension request for 13-ISI-1 and 13-ISI-2 examination exemptions are for the 3rd lSI Interval, which is currently from June 1, 2006, to April 30, 2016. With the NRC approval, the 3rd lSI interval will be extended to April 30, 2026, for the examinations listed in Reference 1.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 May 9, 2014 The requested "Duration of Proposed Alternative" in Reference 1 (Enclosures 1 and 2, Page 4 of 6) should have only referred to the 3rd interval. The alternatives will not affect the duration of the 41h interval. This approach is in line with the wording in WCAP-16168-NP-A (Reference 2).

There are no new regulatory commitments contained in this letter. Please address any questions regarding this submittal to Henry Lee at (423) 751-2683.
