, Enclosed is Licencee Event Report (LER) No. 97-026-00: Inadeauate Procedure for Inspection of Shutdown Service Water Pumps For Excess Silt Results in Shutdown Service Water Pumn Inocerability. This report is being submitted in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.73.
311inois Power is committing to take the following actions as documented in this LER:
- Clean the Plant Service Water Intake Structure to achieve an acceptable level of silt.
- Revise Clinton Power Station (CPS) Procedure 24001.01, " CPS Corbicula (Asiatic Clams) Control," to include an acceptance criteria for sili level, trending of silt accurr:alation, and require inspection of the Shutdown Service Water (SX) pump intake area.
- Evaluate, test, or inspect the heat exchangers served by the Division I and II SX 3'
- pumps for operability due to silt accumulation.
