Mr. R. H. Engelken, Regional Adminsitrator

Dear Sir:

Subject: Docket No. 50-361 30-Day Report Licensee Event Report No.82-093 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 2 This submittal is in accordance with the reporting requirements of Section 6.9.1.13b of Appendix A to Facility Operating License, NPF-10.

It describes a reportable condition involving Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) 3.3.2 associated with the Toxic Gas Isolation System (TGIS).

A completed copy of LER 82-093 is enclosed.

On August 8, 1982, while in Mode 3 during routine shift surveillance, Channel B butane analyzer was found to be malfunctioning. The analyzer was declared inoperable at 0800 and LC0 3.3.2, Table 3.3 Action 14 was initiated.

Subsequent investigation revealed that analyzer malfunctioning was due l

to a faulty pressure regulator. This regulator was replaced and the analyzer was returned to service at 1658 on August 8,1982.

Since the redundant analyzer remained operable throughout the event, there was no impact on the health and safety of plant personnel or the public.
