No. 12 Hydrogen Analyzer - Inoperable.

This report was initiated by Incident Report 81-237.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 99% - Unit Load 1020 MWe DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

On July 8, 1981, during a routine calibration check, No. 12 Hydrogen a

Analyzer was found to be out of calibration.

At 1540 hours0.0178 days <br />0.428 hours <br />0.00255 weeks <br />5.8597e-4 months <br />, July 8, 19E1, it was declared inoperable and action statement 3.6.4.1 was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode in accord-ance with technical specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

No. 12 Hydrogen Analyzer failed a routine calibration check due to drifting out of calibration.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Technical specification 3.6.4.1 requires:

With one Hydrogen Analyzer inoperable, restore the inoperable analyzer to operable status within 30 days or be in at least hot standby within the next six hours.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

2 No. 12 Hydrogen Analyzer was removed from service.

It was recali-L:ated, according to procedure, with 2% hydrogen calibration gas.

It was tested satisfactorily, and returned to service.

Action statement 3.6.4.1 was terminated 2140 hours0.0248 days <br />0.594 hours <br />0.00354 weeks <br />8.1427e-4 months <br />, July 11, 19L1.
