[External_Sender] Please Leave Paradise Alone to Recover

Dear Californians and others living on the Pacific Rim:

It was a relief and hope for a nuclear-free guarantee which we felt some years back, learning of the plan to decommission Diablo Canyon. With the closure of San Onofre, we had also hoped for a safe place far off both beaches to store spent nuclear fuel. We are lucky as a state to not have had a huge Fukushima or Chernobyl-style disaster while the facilities were/are operating. But we have a very precarious coastline, with fault lines all about, and while the ocean can cool generators, sea life suffers from the temperature change and potential pollution from nuclear generation. The surf, like the fault lines, can and does erode and destroy, as well.

Our governor was first elected because he seemed to agree with the above summary, but he has switched positions and is now only fearing (along with corporations) that we do not have enough power.

My recommendation is to not get power from a dirty source, but from using renewables and even shutting down domestic and factory locations for perhaps 2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
a day, at a time which will affect folks the least amount.

Avila Beach looks and feels a lot like a compact Paradise. Let's let it be, and re-adopt the plan to close Diablo Canyon. For human safety. For the Earth.
