[External_Sender] Public Comment on the EIS for the continuing operations of Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant I have been a California resident for nearly 70 years now. Looking back through the fog of controversy, the unwise decisions to close Rancho Seco and San Onofre have had dramatic adverse effects on Californias environment and quality of life. Today, California is fortunate to at least have the benefits of Diablo Canyon as our only remaining source of clean and reliable electric power.
The plants economic contributionsinclude being: San Luis Obispo Countyslargest private employer, the environmental stewardof 12,000 acres of land and 14 miles of scenic coastline, and the excellent operators of the power plant for nearly 40 years. I also believe that keeping Diablo Canyon online is critical to Californias grid stability and meeting the states clean energy goal.
Therefore, I strongly urge the Commission to recognize the ongoing and important environmental benefits of Diablo Canyon in the EIS for the continuing operations of the plant.
