Dear NRC,

As a California resident, I am seeing the day-to-day shift towards electrification with the increased adoption of EVs and the shift towards electric-only households for appliances and heating/cooling.

As we move towards an increasing electronic future, with cars, building heat, connected devices, AI data centers, and computers galore powering our everyday life, our thirst for electricity is quickly becoming insatiable.

With that in mind, I see the only way to meet these demands to be nuclear energy. It is only a combination of existing installations, albeit aged as they are, and the emergence and swift deployments of SMRs, that can provide the consistent flow of energy to power the modern world. I think that there is a place for all kinds of energy generation, from solar and wind, to hydro, to fast-responding natural gas plants, but only nuclear can provide the consistent source of electricity the country needs.

So long as Diablo Canyon is certified as safe by the NRC, and its operators continue to make the modernization and upkeep investments necessary for operation, I firmly believe that Diablo Canyon should continue to operate and provide electricity for California.
