I am writing this letter to express my support for extending the operations of the Diable Canyon Nuclear plant in San Luis Obispo County in California. In this time of critical electric shortages in CA it is of paramount importance that Diablo Canyon continue to operate. The demand on California's power grid are only going to escalate in the coming future. This year alone, my power has been interrupted at least a dozen times, sometimes for planned outages because of power overload concerns for many hours at a time and other times for several days because of equipment failure. This in addition to power shut offs due to high winds. This interrupts businesses and critical care hospitals needing to constantly maintain standby generation systems in a state of readiness.

It is obvious that solar will not meet the needs of this state for many decades to come. The power generated by this plant is greatly needed and appreciated by those of us who already experience a somewhat unreliable, dated and overtaxed power grid.
