GIST FACILITY TESTING ACTIVITIES FOR GE NUCLEAR ENERGY'S (GE'S)

SIMPLIFIED BOILING WATER REACTOR Enclosed for your records is a letter dated June 16, 1993, sent by Mr. K.

Jones of the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) to Dr. J. Han of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. The enclosed letter describes quality deficiencies related to GE testing activities at the GIST facility.

These deficiencies were identified by INEL during a visit to the GE offices in the fall of 1992 in connection with INEL's RELAPS code assessment work for the NRC. Portions of this letter were provided by fax from INEL to Mr. J.

Andersen of GE in late June 1993. It is our understanding that the GE staff is evaluating the deficiencies identified and taking necessary corrective actions. '
