For several months we have been discussing with your staff our desire to obtain English translations made by the NRC of NIS reports submitted by GE on the SBWR docket in response to NRC Requests for Additions! Information (RAls). The reports were submitted in German and l then were translated into English to facilitate the SBWR review. Because the reports were l properly marked proprietary both as originally submitted and after translation, this letter and the two Reference letters were developed to assure that distribution was made in accordance with proper binding agreements. Reference 1 reflects that relationship between NIS and GE, and Reference 2 provides NIS' authorization to NRC to make the requested distribution, j We understand that the translation was made by NRC to facilitate the SBWR review and further understand that NRC cannot be held liable for the accuracy of the translation.

Accordingly, GE hereby requests copies of the English translations of the reports identified in the Reference 2 letter from NIS to NRC.

Dear Mr. Leatherman,

I from communications with EPRI, Mr. George Sliter, we are informed about the existance of English translations of some of the reports on PAR, which we delivered in November 1994 to General Electric (GE) under the Confidentiality Agreement between GE and NIS signed in summer 1994. The translations were obviously produced by NRC.

We understand that GE and EPRI are interested in this English version. Following suggestions from George Sliter we wrote a letter to NRC to authorize the release of the reports to GE. This Letter for authorization is enclosed for you to be submitted to NRC.

l We request to receive a copy of the reports for our files.

Dear Mr. Nimh,

NIS has been informed that General Electric (GE) has transmitted certain NIS proprietary i reports to the NRC in connection with their proposed use of passive autocatalytic recombiners ]

(PARS) in GE's application for design certification of the SBWR advanced light water reactor.

That transmittal of proprietary information was in conformance with a licensing agreement i between NIS and GE. We have been informed further that the NRC has produced English l translations of these reports and that these translations would be useful to GE. NIS hereby authorizes the NRC to provide GE with a copy of the English translations of the four reports l

listed below:
