. 3. Letter J. H. Wilson (NRC) to J. E. Quinn (GE), PROGRESS REPORT ON STAFF'S REVIEW OF GE LICENSING TOPICAL REPORT NEDE-32176P, REVISION 0,"TRACG MODEL DESCRIPTION" (TAC NO. M85913), dated Octcher 3,1995 As discussed in the Reference 1 letter, GE Nuclear Energy is redirecting the focus ofits Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (SBWR) programs from plants of the 670 MWe size to plants of 1,000 MWe or larger. In addition to the topics addressed in Ref.1, GE will be substantially reducing the level of activity on the TRACG effort as it applies to the 670 MWe plant.

Specifically, GE would like NRC to stop work on the review of the TRACG Application Licensing Topical Report (LTR) NEDE-32178 and prepare a written summary of status of the review of this document at the point of the "stop work". With regards to the TRACG j Qualification LTR NEDE-32177 GE would like written feedback that the responses to the NRC <

Requests for Additional Information (RAls) are satisfactory and then stop work on the review of this document and prepare a written summary of status of the review of this document at the point of the "stop work".

In addition, GE wishes to continue the review of the TRACG Model LTR NEDE-32176. This report has been under active review by the NRC for over two years with considerable investment by both GE and NRC. There have been meetings with both NRC and ACRS (the most recent subconunittee meeting dealing with TRACG was December 15-16,1994) and all questions 150005 9603150026 760313 a
