. CONFIRMATION OF NRC INSPECTION REGARDING SIMPLIFIED BOILING WATER-REACTOR (SBWR) TESTING ACTIVITIES AT GE NUCLEAR ENERGY (GE)
The Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation staff will be conducting an inspec.
tion at the.GE Nuclear Energy (GE) offices in San ' Jose, California on. August.9 1
1 through 13, 1993. The inspection team will consist of Messrs. Richard -
McIntyre, Alan Levin, Frederick Allenspach, Billy Rogers, and Joseph Staudenmeier. Mr. McIntyre and Ms. Melinda Malloy discussed the' scope and details of the inspection with Mr. George Sweden, et.al., of yourf staff on-1 July 22 and 26,1993.
Iq The inspection will review the quality assurance' programs and controls.
j implemented during the tests conducted at the gravity-driven cooling system -
1 integral systems test facility (GDCS-IST) during the late 1980's and the development of the GDCS computer modeling. The adequacy of controls: exercised during these activities is important to us since GE~has used data.from these--
tests to qualify the TRACG code for SBWR safety analysis applications.
