SUBJECT:

WESTINGHOUSE RESPONSE TO SCHEDULE UPDATE FOR THE LICENSE RENEWAL REVIEW In accordance with the NRC request dated June 30, 2020, Westinghouse Electric Company LLC

("Westinghouse") is providing dates for the Phase II Remedial Investigation Work Plan activities, under the Consent Agreement with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control

("SCDHEC"), including when the Plan will be submitted to SCDHEC and when the results will be available. Note the structure of the investigation under the Consent Agreement mirrors the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) process. The results of Phase II investigation will determine the next actions to be completed under the Consent Agreement.

Attachment 1 provides a tentative schedule for the Phase II Remedial Investigation Work Plan activities.

The process provides SCDHEC with multiple opportunities to review, comment on, and ultimately approve each step of the process. The SCDHEC milestone completion dates are presumed based on Westinghouse's understanding of SCDHEC's review process and not firm dates provided by the Department. Also, completion of environmental investigation activities is dependent on the weather and therefore, the schedule is subject to change.
