REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - RENEWAL OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIALS LICENSE SNM-1107 (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER: L-2017-RNW-0016)

By letter dated September 20, 2021, Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC (WEC) submitted a revised license renewal application for its Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) in Hopkins, South Carolina (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession Nos. ML21263A217 and ML21263A218 license SNM-1107 to continue to operate the CFFF for an additional 40 years.
In conducting a detailed review of the license amendment request, we have identified technical areas where additional information is needed in order to make a determination of the adequacy of your request. The specific areas where additional information is needed are stated in (non-public) to this letter. Enclosure 2 provides a public version with specific security-related information redacted.
Please submit your response to this request for additional information (RAI) within 30 days of the date of this letter. Upon receipt of complete RAI responses, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will develop a revised schedule for the licensing review, as needed.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the NRC Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. The ADAMS database is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
