Adam, By letter dated August 19, 2022 (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22231B055), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC, the licensee) submitted a license amendment request (LAR) for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP), Units 1 and 2. The proposed LAR revises Technical Specifications (TS) Table 1.1-1 MODES to relax required number of fully tensioned reactor pressure vessel head closure studs.

By email dated September 15, 2022 (ML22258A153), the NRC staff accepted the LAR for review and estimated that the LAR would take approximately 305 hours0.00353 days <br />0.0847 hours <br />5.042989e-4 weeks <br />1.160525e-4 months <br /> to complete by March 24, 2023, based on the information provided in the LAR and the pre-submittal meeting held on August 1, 2022 (ML22243A191).

By email dated January 30, 2023 (ML23033A028), the NRC staff revised the estimated hours from 305 hours0.00353 days <br />0.0847 hours <br />5.042989e-4 weeks <br />1.160525e-4 months <br /> to 422 hours0.00488 days <br />0.117 hours <br />6.977513e-4 weeks <br />1.60571e-4 months <br />, based on the complexity of the LAR review along with the need for the ongoing regulatory audit (ML22320A072).

Due to emergent challenges in the NRC review, the revised estimated hours is 650 hours0.00752 days <br />0.181 hours <br />0.00107 weeks <br />2.47325e-4 months <br /> and the revised estimated completion date is September 15, 2023.
