Mr. Hayes, Ms. Naar, Mr. Matos, and Mr. Dunn:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff plans to issue an amendment to Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Hatch), Units 1 and 2, on approximately May 18, 2023.

By application dated March 25, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22087A169), as supplemented by letter dated May 17, 2022 (ML22137A001), SNC requested changes to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Hatch, Units 1 and 2.

The proposed license amendment request (LAR) would revise technical specifications (TSs) for Hatch, Units 1 and 2, to adopt of (Technical Specification Task Force Traveler) TSTF-208, involving a revision to the allowed time to reach MODE 2 in Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) 3.0.3 from 7 hours8.101852e-5 days
0.00194 hours
1.157407e-5 weeks
2.6635e-6 months
to 10 hours1.157407e-4 days
0.00278 hours
1.653439e-5 weeks
3.805e-6 months
. Additionally, the LAR proposed deletion of duplicate TS Page 3.4-25 in each units TSs.

If the State of Georgia has comments on the LAR, please provide the comments by the close of business on January 11, 2023.

Best Regards, Dawnmathews T. Kalathiveettil Hatch Project Manager Plant Licensing Branch (LPL 2-1)
