s. Tomminalli Cyana item Comments ( Reg'd Action By SWEC spoke to Mark Bressler, Chairman of the ASME NF 4 committee concerning the issue of through thickness stresses and inspection. ASME eliminated the reduced through thickness allowables after 1974 because the lower allowables resulted in poor design in that larger welds, were being specified. Further, the NF 5200 inspection requirements were not added to address lamellar tearing and that pipe supports are exempted per NF-4431. SWIC investigated material requirements which remained unchanged from 1974 to 1984. Therefore, SWEC does not consider inspection of these designs to be warranted.,

Cygna requested SWEC to reconsider, especially since only a few supports are involved.
