ENCLOSURE NRC Comments on ANS-1 l- Conduct of Critical Experiments

-1. Foreword. The title of the standard in the first sentence of the foreword and on the first page of the standard do not match. There is a typographical error in Dixon Callihan's work affiliation (first usage). Please address.

2. Definitions. Under the definition of " assembly shutdown" there is a statement about numbers in brackets. This statement appears to be in the wrong place. Please
address.
3. Administrative Practices, Section 3.9. The words " operations" and "of" should not be capitalized.

l 4. Adrninistrative Practices, Section 3.16. Consideration should be given to referencing ANS-15.11, " Radiation Protection at Research Reactor Facilities" for guidance on ,

radiation protection.

5. Design Criteria, Section 4.4. The term "special experiments" is used. Should this

- term be defined in the standard?
