Zion Station Units 1 and 2 I.E. Bulletin 80-11, Masonry Walls NRC Docket Nos. 50-295 and 50-304 Reference (a): September 12, 1983, letter from S.A. Varga to D. L. Farrar

Dear Mr. Denton:

Reference (a) provided the NRC's Safety Evaluaton Report (SER) and the Franklin Research Center's Technical Evaluation Report (TER) on the subject of Masonry Walls at Zion Station. Reference (a) further requested that, within 30 days of receipt, Commonwealth Edison provido plans and schedule for resolution of the issue of horizontal joint reinforcing. Commonwealth Edison is presently examining the design of the 18 walls affected by this issue, and additional time is needed to complete our analysis. A response detailing our plans and schedule for resolution will be provided by November 11, 1983.
