SUBJECT:
BYRON STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 - ORDER AND NOTICE OF CONSIDERATION OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES, PROPOSED NO SIGNIFICANT HAZARDS CONSIDERATION DETERMINATION, AND OPPORTUNITY FOR A HEARING (TAC NOS. MD9018 AND MD9019)
Dear Mr. Pardee:
Enclosed for your information is a copy of an Order Imposing Procedures for Access to Sensitive Unclassified Non-Safeguards Information and a ANotice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendments to Facility Operating Licenses, Proposed No Significant Hazards Consideration Determination, and Opportunity for a Hearing.@ The order and notice relate to your application for amendment dated June 17, 2008, to revise Byron Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (Byron),
Technical Specification (TS) 5.5.9, Steam Generator (SG) Program, and TS 5.6.9, Steam Generator Tube Inspection Report. For TS 5.5.9, the amendment would incorporate a one-cycle interim alternate repair criteria in the provisions for SG tube repair criteria during Byron, Unit No.
2, refueling outage 14 and the subsequent operating cycle. For TS 5.6.9, the amendment would revise the current reporting requirements. The proposed changes only affect Byron, Unit No. 2; however, they are docketed for both Byron units because the TS are common to both units.
The order and notice have been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
Sincerely,
/RA by S. Sands for/
