March 10, 2003 THIS LETTER WAS ISSUED TO THOSE ON THE ATTACHED LIST.

SUBJECT:

MEETING WITH OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT

Dear  :

You are cordially invited to attend a public meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Omaha Public Power District on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be conducted at the Holiday Inn Express Southwest, 10729 J Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the results of a recently completed integrated assessment of performance at Fort Calhoun Station.

On February 6, 2003, the NRC completed an integrated assessment of performance at Fort Calhoun Station. This integrated assessment included a review of performance indicators and the results of inspections conducted by the NRC. The assessment period was from January 1 to December 31, 2002 The performance indicators, results of NRC inspections, and the results of the integrated assessment for Fort Calhoun Station can be found on the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/FCS/fcs_chart.html.

Following the meeting, members of the NRC staff will be available to meet with you and answer any questions that you may have. This is a good opportunity to meet the NRC personnel with whom you would interface in the event of an emergency at the nuclear power plant.

I look forward to visiting with you at the meeting. Should you have any questions, please contact me at 402-426-9611.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be made available electronically for public inspection in the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).

Sincerely,

/RA/

John Kramer Senior Resident Inspector Fort Calhoun Station
