Dear Ms. Haney:

Department of Homeland Security Region IV 3003 Chamblee-Tucker Road Atlanta, Georgia 3 0341 FEMA Enclosed is a copy of the Final After Action Report for the October 31, 2017, V.C. Summer Nuclear Station Plume Exposure Pathway exercise.

This report addresses the evaluation of plans and preparedness for the State of South Carolina and Fairfield, Newberry, Lexington and Richland Counties within the 10-mile emergency planning zone. This exercise demonstrated the State of South Carolina and the affected counties' commitment to public health and safety. The Federal evaluators did not identify any Level 2 findings or Level 1 findings during the exercise.

FEMA Region IV Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program staff prepared this report. Based upon results from the October 31, 2017 exercise and FEMA' s review of the States' Annual Letter of Certification (2016), off site radiological emergency response plans and preparedness of the State of South Carolina and appropriate local jurisdictions site-specific to the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station can be implemented.

They are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken off site to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site. Therefore, the Title 44 CFR, Part 350, approval of the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness site-specific to the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station granted on November 13, 1981, will remain in effect. Should you have questions, please contact Randall Hecht at the Atlanta Regional Office at 770/220-314
