Extreme care must be exercised to properly flush the Boric Acid Blender system following an outage. [C.2j NOTE I This is th.e :nomial mode of operation of the Rx. Makeup Control System. This allows for automatic makeup to VCT to compensate for leakage and/or temperature/density changes during transients/emergencies. However, Section 65 (Manual Makeup) is preferred for normal makeup in Modes I and 2. NOTE 2 Nuclear instrumentation and reactor coolant temperature should be monitored following auto makeup to ensure dired response is obtained. NOTE 3 it will take approximately 15 minutes before any changes to reactivity are indicated on nuclear instrumentation or RCS temperature indication. Reference Title Rev No. EA-78-1 Refilling the Spent Fuel Pit 4 READ TO OPERATOR HAND JPM BRIEFING SHEET TO EXAMINEE AT THIS TIME! DIRECTIONS TO EXAMINEE: I will explain the initial conditions, and state the task to be performed. All steps shall be simulated for this JPM. WHEN ENTERING A UNIT TRIP HAZARD ZONE ENSURE YOU DO NOT TOUCH ANY SWITCHES WITHIN THAT ZONE. I will provide initiating cues and indicate any steps to be discussed. When you complete the task successfully, the objective for this job performance measure will be satisfied. Ensure you indicate to me when you understand your assigned task. Assume all independent and concurrent verifications are completed when called for by the procedure. To indicate that you have completed your assigned task return the handout sheet I provided you. INITIAL CONDITIONS:

1. Unit I is in MODE I
2. The Spent Fuel Pit level is dropping abnormally.
3. Spent Fuel Pit level is 725 5.5.
4. Demineralized water storage tank level is 85%.
5. Alarm M-15-B-E3 LS-59-I8OAIB DEM WTR AND CASK DECON SYS ABN CONDITION is DARK
6. Radiological conditions for the area have been assessed and are acceptable for personnel entry.

INITIATING CUE:

1. The Unit 1 RO has directed you, the Unit 1 Auxiliary Bldg AUO to refill the spent fuel pit to above 726.5 from the demineralized water system using EA-78-1.
2. Inform the RO when complete.

1201 NRC Plant JPM K Page 4 of 9 Start Time CAUTION SF! area habitability and expected radiological conditions shall be considered prior to dispatching personnel for local actions. NOTE EDMG-2 Appendix J provides alternative guidance for makeup if personnel CANNOT safely reach the SEP area.

1. REFER TO Appendix A for determining SEP level.

NOTE SFP refill should only be initiated when directed by MCR or TSC. CAUTION 2 During Dry Cask loading Iunloading, Spent Fuel Pit Boron concentration shall be maintained in accordance with the restrictions in 0-GO-17. An alternate means of borated makeup must be established prior to reducing the boron concentration to less than the limit due to Demln Water makeup. NOTE A M-5 and Breakaway lock key will be required to unlock valves. STEP 3  : 1. VERIFY dernineralized water AVAILABLE.
