INC.KEWAUNEE POWER STATION INSPECTION

REPORT 05000305/2006007

-RESPONSE TO NRC REQUEST On July 3, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory

Commission (NRC) Region III issued an inspection

report for the Kewaunee Power Station (Kewaunee) (Reference

1). The inspection

was performed

pursuant to NRC Inspection

Procedure

95002, "Inspection

For One Degraded Cornerstone

or any Three White Inputs in a Strategic

Performance

Area." The inspection

of the root causes and contributing

causes for two performance

deficiencies

were documented.

In the NRC's letter, the NRC requested

the Kewaunee staff inform the NRC once steps have been completed

to assure that the cause evaluation

and corrective

actions are of sufficient

scope and breadth to address the performance

deficiencies.

Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc. (DEK) has undertaken

the steps necessary

to assure that the cause evaluation

and corrective

actions are of sufficient

scope and breadth to address the performance

deficiencies.

Final approval of the updated root causes has been completed.

Additionally, DEK requests the NRC perform the additional

inspections

identified

in Reference

1 starting August 7, 2006 or August 14, 2006. An August 2006 inspection

schedule optimizes

DEK's resources

because the Kewaunee Power Station will be shut down for a refueling

outage in September

2006. DEK will notify the NRC promptly if there are any changes in the root cause status or requested inspection

schedule.If you have questions

or require additional

information, please feel free to contact Mr.Thomas L. Breene at 920-388-8599.

Very truly yours, Leslie N. Hartz Site Vice President, Kewaunee Power Station
