Letter logged TXX-12002 dated January 5, 2012 from Rafael Flores to the NRC submitting Relief Request No. A-2 for the Unit 2 Second 10 Year ISI Interval from 10 CFR 50.55a Inspection Requirements due to Geometric Limitations
Dear Sir or Madam:
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii), Luminant Generation Company, LLC (Luminant Power) submitted Relief Request A-2 (see reference) for Comanche Peak Unit 2 for the second ten year inservice inspection interval.
Luminant Power had determined that certain inspection requirements of ASME Code Case N-729-1, "Alternative Examination Requirements for PWR Reactor Vessel Upper Heads With Nozzles Having Pressure-Retaining Partial-Penetration Welds,Section XI, Division 1," are impractical due to geometric limitations.
This letter is being submitted to clarify the following statement in TXX-12002: "This letter supersedes TXX-11106 dated December 14, 2011." TXX-11106 had originally been issued on December 14, 2011, submitting Relief Request A-2. However, the enclosure to that letter had a Westinghouse cover letter attached which was stamped "Westinghouse Proprietary Class 3" even though all the information contained in the letter was non-proprietary.
TXX-11106 was rejected by the NRC Document Control due to this proprietary issue. After discussion with the NRR Project Manager, Luminant Power resubmitted Relief Request A-2 in its entirety.
Therefore TXX-11106 is not needed for review and approval of Relief Request A-2 by the NRC.A member of the STARS (Strategic Teaming and Resource Sharing) Alliance A b4-7~Callaway
