Theu rates are to be used as the basis for computing the maximum performance awards that may be pMd SES members under $ U.S.C. 5384. Effective January 12,1992, level I of the Executive -
Schedule willincrease to $ 143,800. That is the maximum amou nt that may be paid under 5 U.S.C.
5383(b) to any SES member during calendar year 1992 as the total of basic pay, performance award, and Presidential rank award.
Effective . January 12, 1992, the maximum amount of basi _ insurance under the Fec'eral Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) program is $132,000.
An SES member's rate of basic pay may not be adjusted more than once during any 12-month-period (5 U.S.C 5383). An increase in the payable rates for members of the SES is not considered a pay adjustment. It should be noted, however, that an initial appointment to the SES is          ,
considered a pay adjustment; thus, the ES rate of a new SES member (e.g., from ES-1 to ES-2)
  .              may not be changed sooner than 12 months after the date of initial appointment to the SES.
