Donald C, Cook. Nuclear Plant Unit No, 2 Docket No, 50 ~ 316 CPPR No, 61 and DPR No, 24 RESPONSES 'TO IE 'BULLETIN 'N0.77 -'07 1.0 The containment electrical penetrations used at D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 are not manufactured by General Electric and Qo not employ an epoxy sealant to ensure ade-quate functioning of. electrical safety related equipment or to ensure containment leak tightness.
l,l The electrical penetrations used at D.C. Cook Plant are manufactured by'he 'Conax Corporation, The manufacturer does not employ'odel'umbers, The Conax part numbers for -the penetr~tions. used at the D.C. Cook Plant Unit 2 are as follows; Electrical Pe'netratio'n'o. 'Co'n'ax'art No.
EP 1 2325-8396-01 EP-.2 2325-8386-01 EP-3 2325-8386-02 EP-4 2325-8386-03 EP~5 2325-8386-04 EP-6 2325-8386-05 EP-,7 2325-8386-06 EP-8 2325-8386-07 EP-9 2325-8386<<08 EP-10 2325-8386-09 EP-ll 2325-8386-10 EP-3.2 ~ 2325-8386-11 EP-13 2325-8396-12 1.2 The electrical conductors in the electrical penetrations electrical used in-at the D.C. Cook Plant do not employ epoxy for sulation or for leak tightness. There is no embedment of the conductors in epoxy.
2,0 The penetrations were shipped and stored with dry nitrogen under pressure, During a short. perioQ during installation, the penetxations were depressurized to permit installation in the containment sleeve and again when the pressurization connections were being made. The penetrations are maintained at, approximately 15 psig pressure, of dry air after installation.
3.0 There is no need to maintain pressure in the electrical'ene-is trations during a design basis acciQent. Each 'is penetration provided with 2 seals in series, each of which capable of withstanding pressures greater than those generated during a design basis accident, without leaking.
3.0 The penetrgtions wex.'e 'pres'surized with dry nitrogen at 15 psig during enyironmental qualification tests, The penetration was xequired to pass a leak gate test of less than '1 x 10-6 'cc perec'ond of heli~ at 20 psig differ'ential following the environmental pressure qualification test; 3,1 The containment electrical pen'etrations 'are qualified for LOCA environmental conditions by test, 3,2 The measures taken that provide assurance of qualification of the 'pen'etrations are adequate to .satisfy the Commission's regulations: as .ident'.fied in .the question.
