==SUBJECT:==
MEETING

==SUMMARY==

On August 7, 1985, NRC and applicant representatives met in Bethesda, Maryland to discuss how the applicant's seismic qualification and pump and valve operability program's were put together and what the status was of these programs.
Enclosure 1 provides the list of attendees to this meeting.
The applicant noted the following about the program:
Balance-of-plant components were purchased by certain specifications. These specifications required that seismic qualification be provided by the vendor. Qualification was either by analysis, test or both. United Engineers and Constructors reviewed the vendor qualification packages.
There were about 5300 seismically qualified safety-related components.
Of these, about 2300 were valves.
The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) vendor (Westinghouse) developed a coupled ARS rodel and did an analysis to generate the response spectra to use for qualifying the system. Some NSSS components (about 70 to 100),
none of which are within the containment, were found to be outside the spectra generated. For these items, the NSSS vendor will perform a component specific review to assure these components are acceptable.
The applicant informed the staff of the following status.
The ARS verification program - 87% complete Anchor bolt load generation - 99% complete Anchor bolt load verification - 59% complete Seismic reports - 97% complete To date, no construction modifications have had to be made; The applicant and staff tentatively agreed to a November 1985 staff site audit. The applicant agreed to supply the master list 8 weeks before the site audit date. Given a November 1985 site audit, the staff noted that they will make their selection and provide the applicant a list of comoo,ents in October 1985.

The staff noted a concern about the documentation on components purchased and where the contract has been closed or the-vendor has gone out of business.
The applicant stated that for those contracts that have been closed and the applicant needs information the contracts will be reopened.
The applicant agreed to provide the long forms by two weeks prior to the
,          staff's site audit date. The applicant also agreed to follow-up on IAE Bulletin 79-15 (regarding deep draft pumps). The staff and applicant discussed the staff comments provided in Enclosure 2.

. 8 n NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION g E WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 t,, ,/ OCT 3 01985 Docket Nos.: 50-443 and 50-444 APPLICANT: Public Service Company of New Hampshire FACILITY: Seabrook Station, Units 1 and 2

SUBJECT:

MEETING

SUMMARY

Given a November 1985 site audit, the staff noted that they will make their selection and provide the applicant a list of comoo,ents in October 1985.

h1120291e52o30 A ADOCM 05000443 PDR

The staff noted a concern about the documentation on components purchased and where the contract has been closed or the-vendor has gone out of business.

The applicant stated that for those contracts that have been closed and the applicant needs information the contracts will be reopened.

The applicant agreed to provide the long forms by two weeks prior to the

, staff's site audit date. The applicant also agreed to follow-up on IAE Bulletin 79-15 (regarding deep draft pumps). The staff and applicant discussed the staff comments provided in Enclosure 2.
