As president of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, a 1,000 member business organization in the heart of the plant's environmental footprint, we respect the need for the review process. At its November, 2022 meeting, the Granbury Chamber of Commerce unanimously supported a resolution favoring the issuance of renewed licenses for both power plants for an additional 20 years. Comanche Peak has had a 91% capacity factor since its initial commercial operations began in the early 1990's through July 2022, and during Winter Storm Yuri in February 2021, this power plant generated highly reliable power that grid operators have come to rely on. We understand that Units 1 & 2 produce and maintain 2,300 MW of carbon free power representing 4-5% of the total electricity generated in north Texas; it's continued operation is an ongoing investment in long-term, carbon-free, low-cost energy...all produced safely and reliably. While economic impact is not a part of this process, I'd like the record to indicate that these plants employ more than 1,100 people with good paying jobs from Hood, Somervell and surrounding counties along with 800-1,200 of additional personnel who come into the market during periodic refueling outages...all done safely and without incident.

WHEREAS, The 40-year license for Comanche Peak Unit 1 nuclear power plant expires in February 2030 and Unit 2 expires in 2033, and noting that the License Renewal process is a very mature process in the nuclear industry granting applicants extensions in 20 -year increments, and;
 
WHEREAS, Comanche Peak Units 1 & 2 produces and maintains 2,300 MW of carbon free power representing 4-5% of the total electricity produced in north Texas, and its operation repr esents an investment in and commitment to long -term, carbon-free, low-cost energy, and;
 
WHEREAS, Comanche Peak Units 1&2 employ over 1,100 people from Hood, Somervell and surrounding counties along with 800 -1,200 of additional personnel who come into the market during periodic refueling outages, and;
 
WHEREAS, Comanche Peaks 91% capacity factor since its initial commercial operations in the early 1990s through July 2022 indicates that this power generation plant continues to generate highly reliable power that grid operators can rely on just like during Winter Storm Yuri in 2021, and;
 
WHEREAS, the License Renewal application is expected to be filed in late 2022 which will kick off the review process leading to a public meeting where members of the bu siness community and general public can make comments about the proposed license renewal, now;
