Please deny the operating licenses due to concerns of aged infrastructures and seismicity concerns from injection wells and fracking sites. I live downwind and am very concerned the whole DFW metroplex and behind is in jeopardy.

Drilling Alert: Total starts drilling 11 new methane gas wells at Bruder site

Total Energies starts drilling operations at Bruder site & Liveable Arlington Speaks at Comanche Peak License Renewal Public Hearing
Hi Kim,
We have a new drilling alert. Total Energies has started operations at its Bruder site in SW Arlington. The permits for drilling and fracking of 11 new methane gas wells were administratively approved by the city of Arlington last summer without notifying the neighborhood. As of March 1, 2023, there is no notification on the City of Arlingtons website of this new drilling activity.
Liveable Arlington attended an in person public meeting hosted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on February 23 regarding Vistras request to renew the Comanche Peaks nuclear power plants license for another 20 years. Organizations and residents from Dallas, Ft.
Worth, Arlington, Glen Rose, and neighboring counties attended an open house to ask questions of the NRC followed by speakers addressing concerns about the plant for more than two hours.
Liveable Arlington raised concerns about the possibility of increased earthquake activity due to deep injection and fracking in the region, noting that more than a dozen earthquakes occurred in close proximity less than 30 miles from the plant in a 3-year period.
Upon further research, Liveable found that there are 1400 active or permitted wells within 20 miles of Comanche Peak and more than 5000 wells within a 50-mile radius. As the Barnett Shale ramps up fracking activity, so does the prospect of deep injection. With deep injection comes an increase in the likelihood and magnitude of earthquakes as we have already seen in the Permian Basin and in Oklahoma.
Attention was raised about the 100-plus page aging management section of the application that discussed more than 71 instances where further evaluation of the plant was recommended. Those issues included addressing the possibility of cracking, erosion of materials, and other situations that can occur if the plant extends beyond its 40-year license.
If granted, Comanche Peaks license would extend its Unit 1 and 2 operations till 2050 and 2053 respectively, making these operations almost 60 years old upon license expiration.
Public comment has now been extended to March 13. The renewal application for Comanche Peak can be found athttps://www.nrc.gov/docs/ML2227/ML22276A082.pdf. To make a comment, go to hearing.docket@nrc.gov and refer to Docket: NRC-2022-0183.
Thank you!
