Arlington, TX, 76001 Email:arnoldgrothues.1@gmail.com General Comment My comment is that if you expect trust, you can start by answering the many unanswered questions raised in the most recent public meeting in Glen Rose. How will local air and water possibly be affected by renewal? Tell us about onsite waste storage...how safe is it; how accessible is it to those who'd like to use it for nefarious purposes? What about the safety of this aging nuclear plant in the event of earthquake activity? Do major droughts affect the safety of this aging nuclear plant? How? And how is the nuclear plant and its waste protected against domestic and foreign terrorists? Also, if an accident or terrorist act occurs at this nuclear plant and a radiation leak occurs, how many communities surrounding this nuclear plant will be potentially affected? Also, Comanche Peak was supposedly built with a 40 year life span. Why would you even consider renewing its licenses past 2030 or 2033 since both were brought online in 1990 and 1993 respectively? What exactly has been done to address the embrittlement of the Units through usage over the past 30 plus years? I live in south Arlington and this nuclear plant is a threat to me and my family if ANYTHING GOES WRONG. While I favor an "all of the above" approach to energy generation, nuclear power can lead to extremely bad consequences when inadequately regulated. And the people living near this nuclear plant deserve answers and more input than you have provided. In fact, it seems to me that you are fast-tracking this process to the detriment of the millions of people who will be most affected if and when something goes wrong. Even in power-crazy Texas, where we customers now have to pay for companies' failure to protect us from freezing us a couple of years ago, most of us do NOT want to pay with the loss of our homes and lives if something goes wrong at this nuclear plant.
