Austin, TX, 78757 Email:cbcroom@sbcglobal.net Phone:512-459-8063 General Comment Please do not grant a license extension of the two units at Comanche Peak. This would mean additional environmental concerns. This includes concerns with earthquakes in recent years in the area due to fracking and injection wells, and producing additional highly-dangerous nuclear waste. The high water use at the plants with the increasing droughts in the area increase the risk of inadequate cooling water.

Corrosion, metal fatigue and embrittlement in these aging reactors could expose the surrounding environment and the public to radiation. Ive also read that the water behind the earthen dam contains tritium, contaminating the environment and increasing health risks to nearby residents. Studies in Europe show increased leukemia risks to children living near nuclear reactors due to radionuclides in the air, a concern for all nuclear reactors. The changes in North Texas with more earthquakes and increasing droughts make nuclear reactors more dangerous there. The environmental issues are many and quite concerning, as opposed to environmental issues associated with solar and wind generation. Please retire these reactors and dont extend their licenses.
